I shared in my top 5 trends of 2011 post that warm metals were back in full force, and this year more specifically I think we will continue to see gold and brass embraced in the kitchen! This is a traditional, somewhat European look that has made it's way back into many homes despite the fact that many still cringe at the thought of their 1980's fixtures. Classic designs and mixing together warm and cool metals like gold & silver will be sure to keep this look current & clean. And if you are weary of permanent fixtures, simply stock up on accessories!

I love the movement in this direction! I have all chrome and still really like it but this is so beautiful!
Love seeing brass in the kitchen, dresses it up beautifully and I have started seeing more of it too. Beautiful post!
I just love it!
I just love it!
I love mixing cool and warm metals, but I'm still not willing to reintroduce brass into my home. The 80s left a permanent scar on my design sensibilities! For now, I'm sticking with more muted golds.
Thanks for sharing, Nancy!

You've chosen a few of my favorite kitchens from this year! I'm all about the warm metals but I am a bit hesitant about permanent fixtures so would probably try for the accessories. My Mom has an old hammered copper pot that she told me is mine if I want it - so I can't wait to get my hands on that! Fun round up Nancy!
I'm lovin these gold/brass tones. Way past time for a change don't you think? Now to convince clients!
we just installed antique brass knobs and pulls in our kitchen. looks fantastic! i love it. glad for the confirmation that we're in style. do you have a source for the small pendant in the first image? pam
I have one job underway and I am incorporating antique brass throughout the home with lighting, plumbing, & cabinet hardware...it is making me want to build again, love it all!
Oh yes yes yes!
I think your right. Gold and brass are here! I am excited about the change. I do love silver also...

I definitely plan to have some warm metals on our kitchen island someday. The picture of the wood with the gold handles is amazing!
Yes...we have aged brass library sconces and copper pots.
I didn't think I was going to like gold in my kitchen (unless it was in my wallet!) but these fabulous images are changing my mind. I love the variety of looks from ulta-luxe to rustic and am swooning over the last kitchen - a keeper in the inspiration folder! Wishing you a happy holiday week, Cynthia
I am such a modern girl when it comes to kitchen's but I am loving this trend! I am adding warm metals everywhere in my house.

All of it is fantastic!
I don't want to like these, because I swore that I'd never go gold again, but darn it if these aren't really, really beautiful! For now I'll drag my heels and stick with that beautiful bowl! ;)
PS-The light in that last pic is just like Jodi's kitchen light... the one she bought for $8 at a thrift store and painted black!
I'm loving the warm metal- especially when mixed with cooler ones. A few of your images showed that, it's my favorite way to do hardware right now.
I think brass has been out of vogue long enough that now people will be more expectant of it!! I still have touches of it in my home but I mix it up so my house does not shout BRASS at you!! Love all of the above images, especially when mixed with black.I am on the look out for some new sconces in black and brass for my family room!! Kathysue
Love the black and brass the best. Ooooh, so delicious don't you think?
once again...dream house folder....love it all.
I love the warm metals in the fact that they can warm up an otherwise cool scheme. I don't think I'd commit to anything costly or permanent.
Love this trend. Brass is absolutely gorgeous.
Love love love this! These images are going in my dream home inspiration file!
I love the warm metals! I have to say we are planning on redoing our kitchen this year and I already told my husband I would like warmer metals!
I am 100% on board with this. We gave our kitchen a facelift in 2011 and included copper accents in our cottage drawer pulls and pendant lights. I love it!
